Pilates Ball
A Pilates ball is an affordable way to add a new level of fun and effectiveness to
your Pilates workouts.
It is one piece of Pilates exercise
equipment that you won't dread using during your workout since it fits so seamlessly into your
routine. If it weren't for the improved results that you will see, you would barely even notice that the Pilates
ball was there.
There are several different types of Pilates exercise equipment available on the market
including some rather large and bulky machines that come with an equally hefty price tag. Luckily there are
inexpensive alternatives that are less cumbersome but just as effective, like the Pilates ring and the Pilates, or
yoga ball. These two tools serve the same general purpose and add extra resistance to your workout to help you
increase the effectiveness of your training. You simply add the Pilates ball into your daily
workout and in no time you will notice the difference. Adding both to your workout will give you a bit of variety
to keep your interest at it's peak.
The Pilates mat is another cheap tool that will increase the quality of your workout. The
Pilates mat will add an extra bit of comfort and traction for your body during your workout that a wood floor or
carpet just can't offer. When paired with a Pilates
ring or ball you will have all the tools you need for a fully effective workout routine.
Most Pilates balls will come with a booklet or chart that give specific Pilates ball
exercise instructions for people who are new to the use of them. Many Pilates and yoga ball manufacturers put out a
variety of balls in different resistances so that you can buy new ones as your strength level advances. While that
may seem like a big investment, the truth is that the vast majority of these pieces of Pilates exercise equipment
are actually available for under $20 which makes it far more acceptable upgrade your Pilates ball every few
months.
Pilates Ball Sizes
While a standard Pilates ball is usually around 55-65 centimeters (22-26 inches) in size,
there are smaller versions that give you the same benefits without taking up as much room. The Pilates core ball is
much smaller, around 9 inches or 22.9 centimeters in size. These Pilates mini ball designs offer the same increased
resistance and benefits to your Pilates workouts but are more convenient. Regardless of the size you choose, it is
important to make sure that you don't strain yourself by starting out with a Pilates core ball that offers too much
pressure, start at the lower end of the scale and work your way up to higher resistance Pilates balls.
A Pilates ball is a great tool to add to your Pilates workouts and can offer a whole new
world of Pilates ball exercise methods to spice up your daily routine. If you don't want to invest in a large one
right away, try a small Pilates mini ball for starters and then look into a larger stability ball when the time
comes to upgrade resistances. No matter which one you decide to add to your workout, any Pilates ball will be a
great addition.
